Two men — 24-year-old trader, Dini Yahaya and 22-year-old tiler, Ifuna Rabo — were on Friday brought before a Gudu Upper Area Court in the Federal Capital Territory for allegedly assaulting a man and damaging his Peugeot 307 salon car.
The man had tried to stop them from robbing some guests at an Abuja restaurant, reports said.
The defendants, who reside at Karomajigi, Abuja, were docked on charges of mischief, criminal conspiracy and assault.
Police Prosecutor, Fidelix Ogbobe, told the court that the complainant, Adams Nubia, reported the case at Wuye Police Station on July 30.
He said the defendants, and four others now at large, entered a bar in Karomajigi, Abuja, and attempted to snatch phones from guests at a party held on July 29.
According to Ogbobe, the complainant, who was at his friend’s party holding at the bar, tried to stop them, but they fought him and damaged his Peugeot 307 car.
The offences contravened sections 96, 265 and 327 of the Penal Code.
The defendants pleaded ‘not guilty.’
The judge, Mr. Umar Kagarko, granted them bail in the sum of N20,000 each, with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case until October 11 for hearing.
