Following the recent deaths from Hajj Stampede during the pilgrimage in Mecca that led to the death of 769 Muslims and still counting. It has been gathered that about 100 Nigerians might have lost their lives at the incident.
Some Nigerians have been confirmed dead, which includes; Abdulkadir Jega, the brother to past INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega. Justice Abdukadir Jega was also the Presiding Justice of the Abuja Division of the appellate court.
Another court of Appeal justice also confirmed dead; Justice Musa Hassan Alkali, of the Ilorin Division.
The Emir of Zing and Ameerul-hajj of Taraba State, Abbas Ibrahim and two of his wives have been identified those that died in the stampede in Saudi Arabia.
May their souls rest in peace and May God give the families the fortitude to bear the loss.
Five pilgrims are still missing from Gombe state as declared by the Executive Secretary, Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Usman Gurama. It had not been confirmed if they were among those who died from the incident. He also confirmed that seven other pilgrims are responding to treatment as a result of the injury sustained at scene of the incident.
