The Nigerian Medical Association in Ogun State has lauded former President Olusegun Obasanjo for his contribution to the development of the sports and health sectors in the country.
NMA Ogun State Chapter chairman Dr. Abayomi Olajide said at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta Obasanjo deserved praise for his efforts.
Olajide said the free eye surgery and the top-class equipment at the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation for the public are commendable.
Congratulating the former president on his PhD, the NMA chief said the ex-president should be commended for ensuring that ayo was included in the National NMA Games.
Obasanjo said sports had become a great avenue to encourage healthy relationships among medical practitioners, saying he was happy that the first National NMA Games would hold in Ogun State in his lifetime.
He said any diseases could be managed through sports and medical attention, adding that a sound mind and body was a great boost to economic development.
“The next thing to life is good health, the National NMA Games hosting rights is a great success for NMA, Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole,” Obasanjo was quoted as saying in a statement by spokesman for the Ogun State sports ministry Adeniyi Akinbobola on Wednesday.
