FCT High Court Sacks Alhaji Modu Sheriff
The FCT High Court presided over by Justice Ogbonna in a declaratory judgement has nullified the appointment of Alhaji Modu Sheriff as PDP Chairman and sacked him from office.
Justice Ogbonna described it as height of impunity for Sheriff to have been parading himself as PDP Chairman.
The Judge nullified all action he took in the name of PDP from the day Justice Ashi nullified the amendment to the PDP constitution upon which he was appointed.
FCT Minister Calls for Review of Abuja Laws
FCT Minister Muhammed Musa Bello has called for the review of laws of Federal Capital Territory to meet with the present reality of the grouch and development of the territory.
The Minister made the call when the Acting Chairman of the Nigerian Law Reforms Commission paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
Federal Government Industrial Skills Programme Launch
In an effort to encourage wealth creation and self-employment in various trades, five hundred trainees have selected from the national industrial skills development programme in cross river.
It was flagged off in Calabar by the industrial development fund with senatorial center for their training.
Update on PDP Convention
The much publicized PDP national convention scheduled to hold today in Port Harcourt is unlikely to hold as all entrances to sharks stadium venue of the convention are closed to both human and vehicular traffic.
The entrances to the sharks’ stadium are currently barricaded by the Nigeria Police.
It was gather that the order is at the instance of Police authorities to avoid a breakdown of law and order given the two conflicting federal high court orders.
Delegates to the convention have equally been barred from accessing the convention venue.
Some of the organizers have been sighted leaving the vicinity with some of the convention materials.
There is heavy presence of combined security of the Police and department of State Security.
A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt presided over by Justice Ibrahim Watila had given a comprehensive order for the PDP to proceed with the convention as scheduled without hindrance.
But another Federal High Court in Abuja preceded over by Justice Okon Abang ruled that the convention be suspended pending the determination of an application by the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the party
Vice president Osinbajo on Investments
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says Nigeria’s investment projections both foreign and local are very promising.
Speaking with the media shortly after participating in a Presidential policy dialogue in Lagos, the Vice President says Government policy on having a business friendly environment has opened the gate for foreign investors in the country.
The Vice President cited the Calabar-Lagos and the Lagos-Kano rail lines which he says are already drawing Foreign Investments into the Rail Transportation System.
NAF on Alleged Killing of Chibok Girls
The Nigerian Airforce has described the recent video released by Boko Haram Terrorists alleging killing of the Chibok school girls by its Fighter Jet as a mischievous plot to draw public attention.
A statement by its Director, public relations, group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa urged that the claim lacked evidence that the supposed casualties were as a result of air to ground attack.
It stated that the video clip is a makeup story to discredit the service and to weep up sentiment compels the force to discontinue the use of air power which has proved very effective.
The Air Force restated their commitments to ensure only legitimate Military targets are engaged through intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
Navy Hands Over Suspect to ICPC
The Nigerian Navy has handed over a suspect, one Grace Nkoyo Nwauzor to the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC for alleged impersonation and fraud.
The Chief of Naval Staff represented by Commander, Naval Unit says the suspect was arrested at the Navy town site in Asokoro, Abuja.
Human Rights Commission and Military Dialogue
The Nigerian Army has maintained that the incident of 3rd August, 2016 in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State which saw eleven personnel of the Nigerian Military lose their lives in an encounter with Suspected Gun Runners and Armed Bandits was in line with the rules of engagement.
The Chief Of Administration, Nigerian Army, Major General Adamu Abubakar explained this in Abuja at the fourth National Human Rights Commission and the Nigerian Military dialogue on Human Rights.

The Federal Government has warned Fraudsters using the name of the President Muhammadu Buhari, his family members and any Senior Government Official to solicit for money to desist from this Criminal Act or face the wrath of the law.
In a statement issued in Abuja 0n Wednesday, the Minister Of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the Government is aware that some opportunists have been going from one Government Organization to another with notes purportedly recommending them for contracts and othere patronage, using the name of the President, his family members or senior Government Official to intimidate those organizations.
The Minister said the President didn’t authorize any Government Official to write notes recommending anyone for contract or any form of patronage; he warns those involved in such fraudulent activities to stop immediately or face possible arrest and prosecution.

Update on Polio in Borno
Following the recent wild Polio outbreak in two Local Governments in Borno State, the Minister of Health Professor Isaac Adewole has announced a revised robust wild polio out break response plan to ensure the containment of all the cases and prevent further spread to States.
