The President of the Benson Idahosa University and Bishop of the Church of God Mission International, Bishop Faith Idahosa, has urged Nigerians to remain united and pray for their leader, President Muhammadu Buhari.
Idahosa made the call on Wednesday shortly after laying the foundation stone for the university’s open distance learning centre in Okha, Benin.
The cleric stated that contrary to the perception that Nigeria was wrongly created via the amalgamation of the southern and northern protectorates, the country was a creation by God.
She said, “Nigeria is a country that has come to stay. It was not done by accident; it was not a mistake. God has created this nation and our job as Christians is to pray for whoever is there as a leader.
“The person leading any nation is not there by mistake. If God did not want the person to be there, he would not be there. So, we know that the person is there because God has ordained it.
“So, our duty is to pray for the person to ensure that he is successful because in the success of the leaders of our nation lies our success. So, we cannot say that there is one successful Nigeria and hoping secretly that it would be divided. Once that happens, the nation is divided,” he added.
Earlier, the founder of the Morris Cerullo Schools of Ministry, Dr. Morris Cerullo, had described the open distance learning centre of the university as the manifestation of God’s thought.
On his part, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Izevbigie, said the centre was aimed at creating better accessibility to qualitative and affordable education.
