When it comes to clothing, comfort is key, and that shouldn’t be compromised in the fit, feel or confidence level your wardrobe provides. However, many plus size ladies find the tummy to be problematic for all three of these areas. They are often faced with a serious dilemma: They don’t want to wear tops that are too tight, but hiding a stomach under baggy clothes can make you look frumpy. For many plus size women gain weight on their bellies, often times, their waist may disappear.
Your style shouldn’t have to suffer because of your body shape. There are plenty of ways to look and feel good in your clothes by concealing areas you’d rather not draw attention to and playing up with your assets. Luckily there are many things you can do to hide that belly, so that it doesn’t come in your way of looking fabulously stylish! Discover these tips on how to hide your tummy with clothes below…
- Do not wear tight garments over your belly
If you want to look stylish and highlight your strengths, it is best not to wear tight tops. They will accentuate every fat bubble you have and draw attention away from you and your fabulous clothes. Airy blouses that drift away from the body are a great option for women who don’t want to draw attention to their tummies. The flowy fit is not only physically comfortable, but it will effectively hide any bumps or bulges.
- Wear leggings
Leggings can be your best friend. They will fit comfortably around your belly and tuck it in a bit. None will notice your belly and you will look fabulous. The tighter fit of leggings inherently draws attention to the lower half of your body rather than your tummy, and the fit can help to hide your stomach, too.
- Create vertical lines with long jackets
Layering is very effective to disguise a belly. You can add a cardigan or a jacket. Waterfall or straight designs can both work and will create a nice vertical line which will lengthen you and distract the eye from your belly. The longer your cardigan, the longer and leaner you will appear.
- Peplum tops can enhance your shape
Peplum tops fit tighter around the bodice and drift away just above the hips. The waistline cinches at the smallest part of your body to highlight your assets, and the structured look of these tops deliver a flirty, feminine flare accompanied with a fashion-forward style.
- Go for dresses that don’t cling
Make sure that your dresses don’t cling around the tummy area. Dresses with a draping element around the tummy area often work. Asymmetrical dresses work well too as they draw attention away from the belly and create a vertical line. Dresses that don’t cling with patterns are also great to hide the tummy area.
