The Cross River State Governor, Benedict Ayade, has joined the Judicial body in the State to pay tribute to the State’s immediate late Chief Judge, Justice Okoi Ikpi Itam.
At a valedictory Court Session held at the Judicial Headquarters in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, the occasion was used to formally strike out the deceased name from the roll of legal practitioners by reason of death as demanded by tradition.
Addressing the gathering, Ayade while condoling with the family of the late Chief Judge and the Judiciary as a whole lamented the untimely nature of his death which has left a vaccum.
Ayade also seized the opportunity to announce the plans of government to the Judicial body.
A Notary Public who was sworn in by the late Chief Judge described the occasion as a solemn one but consoled by the legacies he left behind.
